Who can participate in Work and Travel USA?
Full-time university and post-secondary vocational students in Estonia aged 18–28 may participate. You also need enough English to communicate in everyday situations.
How can I apply for Work and Travel USA 2027?
Submit an application on our website. An STA Baltic representative will contact you and guide you through the next steps.
Do I need to speak English fluently?
No. Your English should be good enough to communicate with your employer and handle everyday situations in the USA. We will check your English level in a short conversation before the program.
How much does the Work and Travel USA program cost?
The program fee is €1,399. It includes the DS-2019 form, job placement in the USA, medical insurance for the program period, J-1 visa application support and program sponsor support in the USA.
Can I choose my job and location?
Yes. You can choose from available job offers based on position, location, salary and other conditions.
How much can I earn in the USA?
Your earnings depend on your job, hourly rate, number of working hours and possible tips. Salary and working conditions are listed in each job offer.
Can I have a second job?
Yes, a second job may be possible, but it must meet the program requirements and be approved by your program sponsor before you start working.
Is housing provided?
Housing arrangements depend on the specific job offer. Housing availability, cost and other conditions are listed in the job offer.
How does the J-1 visa process work?
STA Baltic helps you prepare the required documents and your J-1 visa application. We will guide you through each step before your U.S. Embassy appointment.
When should I buy my flight tickets?
We recommend finalizing your travel plans after receiving your J-1 visa. Flight prices vary depending on your dates, route and time of booking.
What happens if my J-1 visa is refused?
The decision to issue a J-1 visa is made by a U.S. consular officer. STA Baltic will help you prepare for your interview and document submission, but visa issuance cannot be guaranteed.
What should I do after arriving in the USA?
After arrival, follow your program sponsor's instructions, complete your arrival registration and any required program steps. You will receive the necessary instructions before departure.
How do I get a Social Security Number?
After arriving in the USA, you can apply for a Social Security Number. We will explain which documents you need and how to apply before your program starts.
Can I open a bank account in the USA?
Yes. Many participants open a U.S. bank account to receive their salary and manage everyday expenses. Requirements vary by bank.
Who can I contact if I need help in the USA?
During the program, you can receive support from your program sponsor and the STA Baltic team. You will receive the necessary contact information and instructions before departure.
Is medical insurance included?
Yes. Medical insurance for the program period is included in the Work and Travel USA program fee. Participants receive detailed insurance information before departure.
Is support available in the USA?

Is Work and Travel USA an official program?
Yes. Summer Work Travel is a category of the U.S. J-1 Exchange Visitor Program. Participants travel to the USA with a J-1 visa and a DS-2019 form issued through their program sponsor.

This year I was lucky to visit USA through the Work and Travel program from the STA Baltic agency.

My name is Vlada and I came to Myrtle Beach as part of the Work and Travel 2018 program. It was a perfect summer that I will keep in my memories for a long time. I met a lot of new people, mostly I was spending time with Americans. I advise everyone dont miss the opportunity to learn about another country and feel the life of another culture.
Summer 2010 I spent in USA by participating in the Work and Travel program from STA Baltic. I worked as a waitress in IHOP and traveled to Miami, the Bahamas, Dallas, Charleston, Chicago and New York. I will be happy to return to America again and again 😋
Summer 2018 I took part in the Work and Travel program. I enjoyed it, if the goal is to earn a lot of money you have to get a second job, if it’s just for pleasure and relax it’s better just to be a lifeguard)
Summer 2019 my dream came true – living in America and feel the thrill of relaxing at the ocean!
